  • Pre T-Ball

    The T-Ball league is to introduce pre-schoolers to the game. Basic skills are taught to give children an opportunity to enjoy playing organized sports. T-ball teams do not have pitchers; instead batters hit the ball off a batting tee using softer balls.In order to give all players maximum participation, league rules require every player play the entire game. The emphasis is on skill development, sportsmanship, active participation and fun.

The emphasis is on skill development, good sportsmanship, active participation and fun. Coaches are always needed, please let us know if you are willing to coach a team.  To ensure that your child is properly positioned on a team, indicate your grade level in your profile before registering.
  • SAFE SITTER

    Safe Sitter is a medically-oriented instruction session that teaches boys and girls ages 11-15 to handle emergencies when caring for young children. It is a 5-1/2-hour program with hands-on training the following areas: basic lifesaving techniques, safety precautions to prevent accidents, how to activate an emergency system, and tips on basic child care. Class limit of 12.
  • SUMMER BAND JUMPSTART PROGRAM

    Participation in the Summer Band Jumpstart Program is a great way to learn how to play your new instrument before your instrumental class begins in the fall. Participation in this program is not required but is HIGHLY recommended. This program provides an opportunity for incoming 6th grade students or students learning a new instrument to begin developing the skills and knowledge needed to succeed in the Bedford band program. Students will need to have their own instrument and supplies to participate unless other arrangements have been made in advance with Mr. Meggitt. Program dates: June 17th - June 27th, Monday through Thursday both weeks, 8 practices, 9:00 a.m. - 9:45 a.m. in the Bedford High School band room.   • SUMMER BAND PROGRAM

    Participation in the Summer Band program is highly recommended for all band students! Summer band meets 4 days a week and keeps your musician playing during the summer when they are not motivated to play by themselves. Student musicians may attend as many rehearsals as they want and can take days off for family obligations or vacations. Summer Band is a good way to stay in touch with all your friends and have a great time making music together! Activities include: fun music from pop songs, musicals, and movies; activities after most Thursday practices; concert and party at conclusion of program (Date TBD). The program runs June 17th to July 11th. Rehearsal schedule is Monday-Thursday in the senior high school band room; 10:00 -10:45 a.m. - 7th & 8th Grade Band.   • SUMMER PARKS PROGRAM

    The parks program is filled with games, arts & crafts, sports and other activities. This summer the program will be held at Jackman Road Elementary. Field trips will be scheduled throughout the summer to add excitement and different venues for children ages K-12 years of age. Specialty weeks are being put together to highlight the various destination spots. Outdoor activities are emphasized and children are welcome to come and go (with parental permission) throughout the day, participating in activities according to their interests. Children must sign in and out when joining and leaving. Please dress your child for an active day of play and crafts. Casual play clothes and tennis shoes are recommended. T-shirts will be available and requested to wear on field trips. Monday-Friday, 10:00 am. - 3:00 pm, June 17th - August 16th. Children are NOT required to stay all day. There is a $60 discount for each sibling in the same household. The discount will automatically be applied when you checkout.

Children will become acquainted with a semi-school routine as well as becoming friends with many resource people in our community. Your child will be more confident and secure when they start school in the fall. Each child is taught basic rules of traffic and pedestrian safety, fire prevention, school bus safety, poison control, water safety, stranger danger and much more. In addition to the activities in the classroom, the students will practice pedestrian safety, learn how to get to and from school safely and "drive" big-wheel type cars while learning traffic rules. Safety Town is specially designed for your child's needs - it's both fun and educational.

  • Segment 1 Michigan Driver Education (under 18 years of age)

    Michigan Driver Education Segment 1 is for Michigan students under 18 years of age (minimum age is 14 years, 8 months by the first day of class). Segment 1 consists of: 12 days (2 hours each day for a total of 24 hours total) of classroom instruction and 6 hours behind-the-wheel driving with the instructor (driving days/times will be arranged by instructor). The instructor has up to 3 weeks after the classroom portion to complete driving and observation hours with student. Students must complete all State of Michigan Driver Education requirements to receive Segment 1 Certificate of Completion. Refunds (less service fee) or transfers will only be issued if requested to the Community Ed office at least 3 business days prior to the class start date. Refunds requested after the 3 days, but before the 2nd day of class will be $155.00. No refunds will be issued after the 2nd day of class! Check your calendar before registering, student must attend all 12 days (24 hours) of classroom instruction, no exceptions. You will be required to re-register and re-pay for a new session if you do not show or do not complete requirements during your registered session. When registering, you need to state full name (first, middle and last) as it appears on your birth certificate. WAITLIST POSITIONS DO NOT TRANSFER FROM ONE SESSION TO ANOTHER. IF INTERESTED IN MULTIPLE WAITLISTED SESSIONS, PLEASE REGISTER FOR EACH WAITLISTED SESSION SEPARATELY.
  • Segment 2 Michigan Driver Education (under 18 years of age)

    Driver Education Segment 2 students must have completed Segment 1. Students must have MI Graduated Level 1 Learners License for minimum of 3 months and have minimum of 30 hours (2 evening) drive time logged by first day of class. Must attend all scheduled classes - failure to so will result in a non-complete and you will have to repay and retake the class. Refunds (less service fees) or transfers will only be issued if requested to the Community Ed office at least 3 business days prior to the class start date. When registering, please be sure to state full name (first, middle and last) and MI Driver's License Number is required. WAITLIST POSITIONS DO NOT TRANSFER FROM ONE SESSION TO ANOTHER. IF INTERESTED IN MULTIPLE WAITLISTED SESSIONS, PLEASE REGISTER FOR EACH WAITLISTED SESSION SEPARATELY.
  • Soccer

    The Bedford Youth Soccer Leagues are open to all boys and girls who are 3 1/2 to 5 years old, the Pre-School League, or Kindergarten through 6th grade for the Coed League. Players on the pre-school league normally have two weeks of practice and then will have organized games. The school age league will practice during the week and have games on Saturdays. Volunteers are needed to coach.

    Slow pitch softball for girls in grades 2-4 focuses more on learning the basics, rules of the game and sportsmanship. The fast pitch softball leagues for girls in grades 5-6, 7-8 and 9-12 is designed to further develop and hone their skills, rules and sportsmanship.

  • Summer Parks

    The Summer Parks Program is back with a twist. The program will continue to be filled with games, crafts and sports activities and field trips to area fun spots. The program will be available from June 17 - August 16, Monday - Friday from 10 am - 3 pm for children 5-12 years of age. Home base this summer will be the Jackman Road Elementary (8008 Jackman Rd., Temperance, MI) The program will be supervised by adult and student staff to provide exciting fun-filled activities in a safe and well-supervised atmosphere. Outdoor activities will be emphasized and children are welcome to come and go (with parental permission) throughout the day, participating in activities according to their interests. Parents will be required to sign their children out when leaving anytime earlier than 3:00 pm. Please dress your child for an active day of play and crafts - casual clothes and tennis shoes are recommended. T-shirts will be available for purchase and worn for field trips. Weekly special event snacks and lunch costs may also be added with notice. Children should bring their own lunch unless otherwise notified. Note: There is a $60 discount automatically applied when registering 2 or more children in the same household.     Swim lessons offered through Brookwood Swim Club cover six (6) different levels from infant/preschool through skill proficiency. Instructors lead these small group lessons to help students become experienced swimmers and/or build or refine their strokes and skill proficiency. Level 1: Infant and Preschool teaches water safety & readiness. One parent must be in the water with their child. Class size is limited - please limit registration for this level to one session per child.

    Swim lessons offered through Brookwood Swim Club cover six (6) different levels from infant/preschool through skill proficiency. Instructors lead these small group lessons to help students become experienced swimmers and/or build or refine their strokes and skill proficiency. Level 2: Little/no water experience. Class size is limited - please limit registration for this level to one session per child.
  • Swim Lessons - Level 3: Primary Skills

    Swim lessons offered through Brookwood Swim Club cover six (6) different levels from infant/preschool through skill proficiency. Instructors lead these small group lessons to help students become experienced swimmers and/or build or refine their strokes and skill proficiency. Level 3: Success with fundamentals. Class size is limited - please limit registration for this level to one session per child.

    Swim lessons offered through Brookwood Swim Club cover six (6) different levels from infant/preschool through skill proficiency. Instructors lead these small group lessons to help students become experienced swimmers and/or build or refine their strokes and skill proficiency. Level 4: Stroke Endurance - Control in water, build endurance, intro to front & back crawl. Class size is limited - please limit registration for this level to one session per child.

  • T ball-Evening Co-ed Skills/Training League

    This league is for children in grades K-2. The purpose of this T-ball league is to teach basic baseball and softball skills and to give children an opportunity to enjoy playing organized sports. Coaches will pitch; if after 4 pitches a player has failed to hit the ball, a tee will be used for the batter. Softer balls are used in T-ball. In order to give all players maximum participation, league rules require that every player play the entire game and bat every inning. Volunteers are a must to coach each of the teams.
